What is Luftrum?

A VFR-only career add-on for flight sims, built because the existing career tools are either airliner oriented or feel a bit lifeless. Inspired by FSEconomy with some added quirks that hopefully make it more engaging.

How do I register?

Luftrum's in early access and is currently invite only. This is about rightsizing the infrastructure and ironing out obvious bugs before opening up to general audience. Depends on early interest, targeting October 2026 tentatively. You can ask for an invite via the registration form or Discord.

When will this be properly released?

Targeting October 2026 tentatively. The early access is about ironing out issues, expanding aircraft support and rightsizing the infrastructure. If things line up and server cost behaves, registration will open.

Is Luftrum free?

Yes, totally free. It will remain free forever with the existing scope. There might be additional features, sponsors, or other ways to generate funding, but no existing feature will be put behind paywalls ever.

Which flight simulators are supported?

MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. The simulator client (Konnekt) is built in a plug-in architecture so X-Plane and P3D aren't ruled out, but they're not part of the early access scope.

Does this work for casual players?

Strong yes! Grinding hundreds of hours is not the goal here. Finding friends via the club system, enjoying VFR and improving your flight skills are. If you have one hour a week, or flight simming is an on-off hobby for you, you still have a place here. Your monthly club fee can be paid for with 1-2 lucrative jobs. Your account is auto-paused after 30 days of inactivity, so no penalty for not flying all the time.

How is Luftrum developed?

Luftrum is a passion project built alongside a 9-to-6 job. This does not mean that it'll cease to exist overnight, but feature development and bugfixing will not be as quick as with a commercial offering.

Which platforms are supported?

Windows. That's it. No Xbox, no Linux, no macOS. Not planned / not possible.
