Lots of new Features in September

Oct 31, 2026 · by Endre

Another month passed by. Releases happen mostly in small increments, so here's a retrospective summary of the major changes.

Career Employment

Now you can get employed in career mode, after reaching a certain threshold (see later). Employment happens in one month cycles: you get a base target flight time and base target score, and promotion/bonus thresholds. Reach your base targets to get fully paid and avoid dismissal. Reach the promotion/bonus and you step up to the next level (you start as Cadet and there are seven levels total). Employment also introduces SOPs or Standard Operating Procedures. These are expectations around managing the plane, an example is flying ramp-to-ramp instead of runway to runway, or using aircraft lights properly. Every employment flight tracks these, and as you climb the ranks, these will be prerequisites to get promoted or even remain employed at higher tier employers.

Career history view

Click on your avatar to open your pilot profile, and find two segments there: Class Experience and Career Progress. These allow you to track where you are in your Luftrum career and what you need to do to unlock the next tier.

Remote Fly

Remote Fly is now an official feature: you can step away from your PC while your flight is ongoing and remote-control your plane using autopilot. You can access it from Kompanion's Remote Fly tab. There's also a cockpit video feed that allows you to stream your simulator screen to your phone. There are some known issues around camera management, which will be fixed incrementally. This also works through the internet, if you need that remote access, let me know on Discord.

EventBridge WASM modules

The Remote Fly and Cockpit tabs of Kompanion allow you to control your autopilot, NAV, COM from a phone or a tablet. For Garmin avionics and future add-on aircraft support you'll need to install WASM modules in you sim's community folder. You find these modules on the official Downloads page, but you can also use KontrolPad, the new launcher (see below). If you don't use Garmin avionics you currently don't need this plug-in.

Discord Notifications

You can now get Discord notifications for flight events. Even if you don't use remote fly, you can get a note from Discord when auto-pause got triggered, or at certain events you can setup using the Notifications tab in Kompanion.

KontrolPad, a new Launcher experience

Luftrum is becoming an ecosystem of components. To keep things manageable, a new launcher/package manager experience is now available for download from the Downloads page. You can keep managing your modules manually if that's your preferred way, but KontrolPad is now the recommended tool.

Flight Albums

Flight albums are selected flights from your flight history, plus whatever description you add. See this example. They also have their own map. Use it for things you wish to remember, most challenging landings, best of a region/period, etc. You can make them public (recommended), fully public (non-Luftrum users can see it too) or private.

Lots of Polish and Bugfixing

Kompanion has now field customization features for the top bar and the Flight screen's telemetry fields. Have a look at the Settings panel. The flight wizard got a revamp to contain additional fields and target load/fuel in lbs, kg and gal for easier MSFS setup. There were scoring schema fixes for soft-field ops, centerline holding is now much more permissive on grass. You can bypass the "engine stopped" stop-gate for the ATR which has a bug in MSFS and you can't stop the engine. The approach detector was a bit too eager to trigger for scoring, so approaches were brutally underscored if you went under 500ft AGL prematurely, now fixed. There's now a Submit for Review feature when completing a flight. This has two legit usecases: if MSFS crashed on you during the very end of a flight, submit a request to make that count still, and will be accepted based on partial telemetry if it was indeed close to completion. The other is the occasional Luftrum bug that prevents you from completing a flight. There's already a recovery mechanism in Konnekt/Kompanion, so your flights barely ever get lost, this is now yet another safety net.
